About

Francisco Marco-SerranokProductivity is the alter ego for Francisco Marco-Serrano and his desires for improving the productivity of the world he lives in. Francisco Marco-Serrano has a degree on Economics for the Universitat de València (Spain) and the Diploma d’Estudis Avançats (Advanced Studies Diploma) on Economic Analysis (postgraduate program that includes 210h worth of lessons plus a pre-doctoral dissertation) for the Departament d’Anàl.lisi Econòmica (Economics Department) of the same university. He has also completed the postgraduate course on Operations Management for the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain). Now he’s 31 he’d like to carry on with his Phd, but that’s still uncertain (still undecided between ‘pricing strategies’ or ‘internet efficiency’ as subjects to research about). He has devoted the second half of his academic life to analyse the culture from the point of view of economics, aka "cultural economics". For more than five years he has been collaborating with the Unitat de Investigació en Economia de la Cultura (Cultural Economics Research Unit) of the Departament d’Economia Aplicada (Applied Economics Department) from the Universitat de València. His interests are the analysis of the processes (conventional or non-conventional ones) in order to gain the needed knowledge to improve their productivity. This is the fact that motivated his interests on the logistics-oriented fields from Operations Research. Currently he is readdressing his life after being 6 years abroad.

About this Blog!

This is the dark side of an operations researcher: "FM Waves". In this blog we discuss OR-related themes with a little bit of salt & pepper, mixed with irony and sarcasm. This project was born around February 2005 in order to fulfill my target of explaining what the heck was that about "Operations Research" and why I was always saying it was so important in life (and in my life). However, as I understand I am not the best to describe it please feel free to follow the links in the "Wave Links" and "WaveRoll" for further assistance. The most important move this blog had was the domain’s and technological platform’s change. Currently we’re based at kProductivity.com and we make use of WordPress-mu. This breaking point was the perfect excuse for me to start writting more and more (well, not that "more"); however, that doesn’t mean I’ve been read more and more. The important thing is it gets me busy around the topics I most like: "operations research", "economics", and "technology". Finally, please let me introduce you to the basic (crappy) stats for this blog. They have been compiled used different sources that I’m unable to coordinate: Wordpress Stats, Google Analytics, Motigo (visits until July-07), and Technorati. Data shown for December 2008 is, of course, my modest targets. Blog Stats
